Tesamorelin is a powerful peptide synthesized from growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF) and is specifically designed to target excess abdominal fat linked to certain HIV treatments, a condition known as lipodystrophy.

It?s important to note that Tesamorelin is not intended for weight loss or the treatment of obesity.

This injectable medication is exclusively indicated for HIV-positive patients experiencing lipodystrophy, facilitating the reduction of surplus abdominal fat.

**Usage Limitations:**

  • The long-term safety and potential cardiovascular benefits of Tesamorelin have yet to be fully evaluated. Thus, it?s essential to monitor treatment efficacy closely, particularly through reductions in visceral adipose tissue as measured by waist circumference or CT scans.
  • Tesamorelin is not approved for weight loss management and has a weight-neutral effect.
  • Current evidence does not support the idea that Tesamorelin improves adherence to anti-retroviral therapies in HIV-positive individuals.

**General Dosing Guidelines:**

The recommended dosage for Tesamorelin is 2 mg, administered subcutaneously once daily. The preferred injection site is the abdomen, and it's advisable to rotate sites within this area while avoiding scar tissue, bruises, or the navel.

**Reconstitution Instructions:**

Before use, Tesamorelin must be reconstituted with the provided diluent. To reconstitute a 2 mg vial, simply add 2.1 mL of diluent and gently roll the vial in your hands for 30 seconds?do not shake.

For comprehensive reconstitution guidelines, refer to the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE leaflet included with your Tesamorelin and diluent packages.

Once reconstituted, administer Tesamorelin immediately and dispose of any unused solution. If not used right away, discard the reconstituted solution; do not freeze or refrigerate it.

**Administration:**

Prior to each injection, visually inspect the reconstituted Tesamorelin solution for any particles or discoloration. Only proceed with the injection if the solution is clear, colorless, and free of particulate matter. Tesamorelin should be injected subcutaneously into the abdominal skin, ensuring to rotate the injection sites to different areas while avoiding scar tissue, bruises, or the navel.
