ACTIVE INGREDIENT Betahistine Dihydrochloride

Introducing Betaserc, a specialized medication containing betahistine, designed to effectively manage vertigo?a condition that causes dizziness and an unsettling sensation of imbalance. By enhancing cerebral blood flow, particularly to the inner ear, Betaserc plays a crucial role in restoring equilibrium and reducing dizziness.

This versatile medication is also beneficial for individuals experiencing tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and Meniere?s disease (an inner ear disorder). While Betaserc significantly diminishes the frequency and intensity of vertigo episodes, it is important to note that it may not completely eliminate them.

Precautions

Betaserc is not recommended for:

  • Individuals allergic to betahistine or similar medications.
  • Patients diagnosed with pheochromocytoma (an adrenal gland tumor).

Exercise caution when using this medication if you have asthma or a history of gastric or duodenal ulcers.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Considerations

Betaserc may be prescribed during pregnancy only if the benefits to the mother outweigh the potential risks to the fetus, as safety data is limited. Its effects during breastfeeding are unknown; thus, it's advisable to avoid nursing while on this medication.

How to Use

Available dosages include:

  • Betaserc 8 mg
  • Betaserc 16 mg
  • Betaserc 24 mg

The usual starting dose is 8 mg taken three times daily, with the option to increase to a maximum of 48 mg per day based on individual response. This medication is not recommended for children under 18.

For optimal effectiveness, swallow the tablets whole without chewing, and take them after meals to minimize stomach irritation. Betaserc can be safely taken for extended periods, typically from 6 months to 1 year, as needed.

If dizziness persists, refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery. Lifestyle modifications?such as quitting smoking, maintaining a healthy diet, and regular physical activity?are also encouraged to enhance vertigo treatment.
